Breathedge 2 Story and Lore
The conspiracy, the betrayal, and why Mary matters more than your oxygen supply.
Breathedge 2 continues the story of an ordinary man who keeps surviving things that should have ended the franchise. The sequel expands beyond the wreckage of the original, introducing new characters, a mobile spaceship, larger environments, and a much bigger mystery surrounding the Breathedge Corporation. This page explains what is currently known about the story, the Chapter 1 ending, and the larger conspiracy that drives the franchise.

The setup: what happened before Breathedge 2
The first Breathedge ended with the Man and his suit AI derailing the Breathedge Corporation’s swift takeover of human settlements. The Corporation had built an enormous Coffinbot army designed to eliminate survivors and control dangerous situations while keeping their secrets buried. By the end of the original game, this plan was disrupted but not destroyed.
Breathedge 2 begins with the crew still dealing with the aftermath. The Man, the suit AI, Babe, and the immortal Chicken are still together, still surviving, and still very much in danger. The Corporation may have been slowed down, but they are not finished.
The Breathedge Corporation conspiracy
Official copy from both games establishes the Corporation as the primary antagonist. They started a galaxy-wide war, built Coffinbots, and attacked the largest human settlements. Their goal was control — eliminating witnesses and consolidating power across inhabited space.
What makes the conspiracy interesting is the personal dimension. The Man was not a soldier or a revolutionary. He was an ordinary person who simply wanted to carry his grandfather’s ashes to a galactic funeral. That ordinary man derailed a corporate takeover and became target number one.
The sequel deepens this by introducing Mary — a character whose coordinates become the focal point of Chapter 1’s ending. The signal jammer retrieval, the final transmission, and the coordinates 779014-EE5 all point toward a larger story that has not yet been fully revealed.
Mary and 779014-EE5
Mary is the clearest story thread in Breathedge 2’s first chapter. Her coordinates, 779014-EE5, arrive at the end of the Chapter 1 main quest after the signal jammer is retrieved and activated.
The transmission is unambiguous: Find Mary. 779014-EE5.
The problem is that the current Early Access content does not allow players to travel there. The coordinates are a promise of where the story is going, not a playable destination. Earlier in the game, coordinates typically meant an immediate progression point — get a location, stock up, fly toward it. 779014-EE5 behaves differently.
There is no new destination marker waiting behind another repair. There is no terminal where players can enter the coordinates. There is no second region that opens by returning through the Depot. The coordinates are narrative foreshadowing, not a quest marker.
The betrayal reveal
The Chapter 1 ending does more than set up Mary’s story. The crew quickly realizes they have been betrayed.
The transmission that reveals Mary’s coordinates also reveals something else: the crew’s own position may have been exposed. If the transmission was intercepted, whoever is listening may know the group’s quadrant and possibly their exact coordinates.
The conversation shifts almost immediately from finding Mary to getting out before that information can be used against them. Chapter 1 leaves players with two unresolved problems simultaneously:
Mary is somewhere ahead at 779014-EE5, and the people trying to reach her may have just been located themselves.
This makes the cliffhanger more complex than a simple locked destination. The betrayal is not just about who betrayed them — it is about the immediate danger created by the attempt to reach safety.
The Early Access ending
Reaching the Chapter 1 ending involves retrieving the signal jammer and completing the final activation. After the transmission, the game shows an on-screen message: Thanks for playing Early Access!
This screen marks the current end of the playable story. The dialogue even jokes about the next chapter not being available. Players who have followed the main story through the antenna, the Depot, and the jammer have reached the current limit of the narrative.
Returning to the save after this point is still possible. The crew suggests scavenging for anything useful. Players can:
- Finish unfinished side quests
- Complete research objectives
- Explore remaining markers
- Craft equipment that was unlocked but never built
- Gather materials for future content
The game explicitly tells players this is the Early Access boundary. There is no hidden path to Chapter 2. The story simply continues when the developers release it.
Chapter 1 length
A broad Chapter 1 run typically takes 8–10 hours when mixing the main story with normal scavenging, side objectives, and wrong turns. This varies significantly based on play style:
- Zero-gravity navigation adds time
- Searching for specific quest objects adds time
- Investigating every question mark before moving on adds time
- A clean story-focused route finishes faster
Eight or ten hours without finishing the main quest does not mean players passed the ending. The main-story objective itself is the better indicator of progress. If the antenna, Depot, or jammer objectives are still active, Chapter 1 is not finished.
The larger story
Nothing about the Chapter 1 ending suggests the larger story has resolved. Mary is still beyond reach. The betrayal has only just been exposed. The crew still needs to escape a position that may no longer be safe.
The developers described the Early Access approach as shipping large new sections rather than constantly reworking what exists. Chapter 1 is the first of those sections. When the next major update arrives, this page will be updated to cover the new content.
Until then, the story is a cliffhanger. The conspiracy is still active. The Corporation is still hunting the crew. And 779014-EE5 is still a destination waiting to become playable.
