Breathedge 2 Star Systems
Zones with their own rules, planets you can stare at, and travel tools you do not own yet.
The pitch for Breathedge 2 is bigger than a single debris field. Official text: the world consists of multiple distinct zones, each with rules, resources, and exploration opportunities. There are diverse star systems with distinctive visuals, vibrant planets in the backdrop, and plenty of enemies that run, fly, jump, or roll. This page separates backdrop from playable, because Early Access is an opening chapter, not a galaxy sim.
Local wrecks are on stations. This is the zoomed-out layer.
Zones versus systems
A zone is a playable neighborhood: a debris field, a canyon, a ruined settlement cluster, an asteroid pocket. Zones can have unique resources and unique threats. That is why survival mentions temperature next to oxygen — a new zone can change the meter that matters.
A system is the postcard: a blue planet, a moon, a distant star, a ship boosting across the frame. Steam’s spacecraft screenshot is that postcard. It is also the fantasy the roadmap is selling: small flying and ground vehicles, a personal spacecraft, a warp-jump system.
If you cannot interact with a planet, it is a skybox with ambition. Enjoy it. Do not empty a tank trying to land.
Canyons
In late 2025 the studio posted “Canyons. Reimagining the Meaning of Meanings” with a teaser and a huge news dump. They treated Canyons as a visual and tonal re-reveal after earlier demo identity issues. The short teaser is on the map hub. For players, Canyons means: the sequel wants spaces that are not just metal corridors. Rock, scale, a place with an idea. Whether the first Early Access chapter includes a full canyon zone or only the art language is something to verify in-game on 31 August 2026. This wiki will not invent a landing coordinate.
If you find a canyon you can EVA through, treat it as a zone with its own oxygen plan. Rock shadows hide camps and wrecks. Stations.
Travel tools, honestly dated
June 2026 developer notes said several major mechanics were still missing from the slice they were comparing to the first game, including base building and personal transport. Steam’s Early Access FAQ still lists those toys as planned differences from 1.0. Translation for your map brain:
- Opening chapter: suit EVA, local shuttle, maybe short hops.
- Later: ground vehicles, flying vehicles, personal spacecraft, warp between systems.
- Planetary surface gameplay is explicitly a full-version difference.
The orange shuttle in crew shots is not the dual-engine interplanetary craft in the postcard. Do not sell your crowbar waiting for warp.
Enemies in other people’s sky
Store copy: plenty of planets harbor adversaries that run, fly, jump, and even roll. Coffinbots are the named army. Other threats will be zone-flavored. Combat still taxes tools and oxygen. A new silhouette is not a reason to dump your entire charge bar in deep space. Kite back to a wreck with cover.
How to use systems as a compass
Pick one planet or one bright wreck as “north.” When you leave a station, note which side of the planet the hangar sits on. When you panic, look for that planet, then the hangar lights. This is old-school Breathedge navigation and it still works when the UI marker is being funny.
When a major update unlocks a new system, it should arrive as a large new section — that is the developer’s stated method. You will not be asked to relearn the opening debris field from scratch. Bookmark updates for those drops.
Systems are solved when you can tell a playable zone from a painting. Until warp ships exist, the painting is there to make the Chicken look small. Let it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Can I land on the planets I see?
Not as a day-one promise. Planetary surface gameplay is listed among full-version Early Access goals. Treat most planets as backdrop until a patch says otherwise.
Will there be warp travel?
A warp-jump system is on the developer roadmap for the full game, not a guaranteed opening-chapter toy. See roadmap.
What is the difference between a zone and a system?
A zone is a playable neighborhood with its own junk and rules. A system is the larger postcard of planets and stars. Early Access is mostly zones.
Is Canyons in the first chapter?
It is a named visual and location identity from a 2025 re-reveal. Confirm in-game whether you can fully explore it on day one. Do not invent a coordinate from a teaser.
