Breathedge 2 Spacesuit and Armor
The new jumpsuit, the modules you bolt on, and the AI that mocks your oxygen bar.
The spacesuit is the real protagonist. Breathedge 2 rebuilt the Man’s look and then hung most of survival on what you bolt onto that look. Developer diaries said the original funeral suit was junk, even burned in the first game’s finale, and that the sequel uses a more modern jumpsuit: protective inserts, external valves, a convenient backpack, hidden controls, a lowered waist. In first-person you see orange gloves. In key art you see a visor and a beard. In the HUD you see whether you still deserve to be alive.
This page is loadout, not fashion. Pair it with survival and crafting.
What the suit is for
Steam survival copy: upgrade both your gear and your spacesuit. Out in open space you watch oxygen, temperature, and other details. That means the suit is a chassis for modules:
- Oxygen / tank inserts — first slot you should care about. Range is a tank problem, not a courage problem.
- Thermal — listed next to oxygen in official text. Ice, engines, and later planetary surfaces will punish a naked chassis. Planetary play is on the roadmap.
- Armor — Coffinbots and debris. Combat is a resource check; armor is how you survive one mistake.
- Carry / backpack — the HUD tracks carrying capacity. A better pack is a better EVA. See resources.
- Utility — extra hand, magnets, lights, filters. Developer extra-hand footage may live in a tool, a module, or both. Confirm in the Encyclopedia. Tools.
DIY is the same language as tools: you do not always craft a new suit. You bolt the benefit you need onto the suit you have.
The AI in the collar
The suit houses the companion AI that derailed a corporate invasion with you. It is narrator, nagger, and probably the voice behind Encyclopedia pings. When the suit yells, believe the meter. Character writing is allowed to be mean and still be correct.
Helmets and joke cosmetics
The studio ran a tiny contest to build real junk helmets and said it wanted those creations in the game as posters, collectibles, characters, or gameplay items. Demo players also jammed cones on their heads. Cosmetics are a Breathedge tradition. They are not tanks. If a helmet says it is airtight in lore and the Encyclopedia disagrees, the Encyclopedia wins.
Wear the cone after you have oxygen to spare. Never before.
Practical loadouts for the opening chapter
Scavenger: tank + carry + light. You are looting pipes and suitcases. Walkthrough.
Fighter: armor + tank + a charged Spraytron on the tool bar. You are not a raid boss. You are trying to live through one Coffinbot.
Long drift: tank + thermal + food/water in the pack. Check crew if someone is waiting in the shuttle and also has a meter.
Puzzle: utility / extra hand + light. Two-object valves, batteries, stuck panels.
Do not mix all four into one overweight Christmas tree. Modules have weight even when the UI is being funny.
Repair and leaks
The first game taught you to plug leaks with gum and nonsense. The sequel still lists repairing as a core Early Access verb. If the suit hisses, you are in a puzzle. If the world hisses, you are also in a puzzle. Carry a small repair stack (tape is the mascot material) and do not EVA with a known leak because a trailer made it look cool.
What the suit is not
It is not a spaceship. Personal spacecraft and warp are later. It is not a house. Building is later. It is not a multiplayer lobby. The game is single-player. The suit is how one man, one AI, one chicken, and some tape pretend to be an expedition.
When a module recipe drops, craft it before a new weapon. When you are unsure, open items and dump weight. When you want the story of the people inside the cabin, crew is next. The visor is a window. The modules are the lungs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is the Breathedge 2 suit the same as the first game?
No. Developers said the funeral suit was junk and burned. The sequel uses a more modern jumpsuit with inserts, valves, and a backpack.
What suit upgrade should I craft first?
Oxygen range, then carry, then armor or thermal depending on the zone. Fashion last. See survival.
Does the suit AI do anything mechanical?
It is a companion narrator inside the suit. Modules still come from crafting. Obey the meters it nags you about.
Are joke helmets useful?
Sometimes as collectibles. Not as tanks. If the Encyclopedia does not list a seal, it is a hat.
