Breathedge 2 Tools and Equipment
Crowbars, Spraytrons, jackhammers, and the extra hand you will actually use.
Tools are how Breathedge 2 turns a bearded man into a problem solver. You will pry, spray, drill, drag, and occasionally shoot. This page is the field manual: charge versus durability, where to reload for free, and why the extra mechanical hand is not a trailer gag. Crafting recipes live in the Encyclopedia and on the crafting guide. This is the use guide.
Bind tool actions before you EVA. See controls. An unbound extra-hand key is how two-object puzzles become forum posts.
Read the tool card
Steam’s jackhammer screenshot is the UI bible. Category Tools, 4 kg, Charge 39/100, Durability 100/100, Extraction 5, Level 1. Translation:
- Charge is the battery you dump by working. 39/100 is already tired.
- Durability is wear. A full durability bar with empty charge still does nothing.
- Extraction (and similar) is why DIY modules exist. Higher number, faster salvage.
- Level climbs when you invest modules instead of crafting a duplicate.
- Weight is a survival tax.
If a tool “breaks” mid-job, open the card before you restart the quest. Most players are looking at charge.
Crowbar-class / pry tools
The Next Fest demo promised a crowbar even when spaceships and base building were missing. Pry tools open the world: panels, jammed doors, coffins, and the occasional skull. Keep one in the suit even when you have a fancy gun. Walkthrough jobs love “open this.”
Spraytron-class / charged tools
Developer FAQ: the best way to load the Spraytron is a free reload at special recharge stations around the shuttle station. Crafting cells is the backup. That design will almost certainly survive into Early Access because it creates a loop: leave shuttle, work a radius, return to a post, repeat. Mark every recharge post like an oxygen pipe.
If you are in a fight with a Coffinbot and the Spraytron clicks empty, you already lost the resource check. Combat is a survival tax, not an arena.
Jackhammer / gathering tools
The jackhammer card exists because gathering is a first-class verb. Extraction jobs, ice, plates, and wreck skins will want a dedicated tool. DIY the extraction stat when you are in a harvest loop; DIY charge when you are far from a post. Do not carry three gathering tools. Carry one upgraded one.
Extra hand
Developer footage is literally titled “Extra hand included.” Watch the clip in the middle of this page. Breathedge puzzles often need you to hold a thing, still interact with a second thing, and not die. An off-hand or helper arm is how the sequel sells that without pausing the world. Bind it. Use it on valves, batteries, and any “both hands” joke the writing telegraphs.
Suit-side extra capability also lives on spacesuit. If a module and a tool both claim to be an extra hand, read the Encyclopedia. One is probably a slot, one is probably a held gadget.
Vehicles are tools too, later
The orange shuttle cabin in screenshots is already a tool: storage, rest, crew bench, maybe a short hop. Full personal spacecraft, ground vehicles, and warp jumps are roadmap items. June 2026 notes still listed personal transport as missing from the Early Access slice they were willing to compare to the first game’s chapters. Do not wait for a speeder to finish the opening. Walk, boost, shuttle.
Maintenance loop
- Before EVA, check charge on the tool you will actually use.
- Prefer station reloads over crafted cells.
- After a harvest, check durability. Repair in crafting before it hits zero.
- Dump the tool you did not use. Weight is real.
- If a job names a gadget you do not own, it is a blueprint nearby, not a store. Walkthrough.
Tools are solved when you can name charge, durability, and the nearest recharge post without opening the menu. Until then, you are waving a clock-faced jackhammer at the vacuum and hoping. The vacuum does not care.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How do I reload the Spraytron?
Use special recharge stations at the shuttle station when you can. Craft cells only as backup. That was the developer FAQ for the demo.
Why does my jackhammer stop?
Look at charge versus durability on the upgrade card. They are different bars. 39/100 charge is a tired tool even at 100 durability.
What is the extra hand?
A real off-hand mechanic shown in developer footage. Bind it in controls and use it on two-object puzzles.
Should I craft every tool I see?
No. Upgrade one kit with DIY modules. Weight and charge management matter more than a full garage. See crafting.
