Breathedge 2 on Steam Deck

Steam prints Steam Deck Verified on the Breathedge 2 store page. That is Valve’s badge, not a fan guess. Verified usually means readable defaults, working controls, and acceptable performance in Valve’s test scenes. It does not mean a debris field full of transmissive blue gel will hold 60 FPS in your lap. This page is the handheld companion to system requirements and settings.

Breathedge 2 is Unreal Engine 5, first-person, lots of unique junk. That is a mean combination for a handheld. Plan for playable, not cinematic.

What Verified actually bought you

• Default layout should be usable on the Deck’s trackpads and back buttons.
• Full controller support, DualShock, DualSense — the Deck is a controller that is also a PC.
• Cloud saves if you hop between Deck and desktop (Steam Cloud is listed).
• Achievements work. Achievements.

Verified does not promise docked 4K, ray tracing, or silent thermals. Docked television play is a desktop GPU job. Use the recommended spec for that: RTX 3070 / RX 6700 XT class, not the handheld.

First-launch Deck profile

1. Start on the default Verified profile. Do not import a random community layout until you have finished the suit tutorial. Getting started.
2. Cap FPS at 40 if the fan becomes a character. Forty locked is better than 50–22–50 in a wreck.
3. TDP moderate. This is a comedy survival game, not a benchmark.
4. Shadows down one step from default, then effects. Same order as the settings page.
5. FSR or whatever upscaler the build exposes after shadows and effects, not instead of them.
6. Native-ish resolution. Pry puzzles need readable panels.

Binds that matter on a handheld

The controls page refuses to invent a full table. On Deck, pin these anyway:

• Interact on a back button. You loot with the camera moving.
• Extra hand on the other back button. Two-object puzzles are real. Tools.
• Inventory / encyclopedia on a bumper you can hit without dropping aim.
• Gyro on for lining up a jackhammer bit or a Spraytron shot. Off if EVA motion makes you sick.
• Thrust on a trigger you can feather. Panic taps overshoot.

If a story sequence starts, do not remap mid-cutscene. Steam Input changes apply when the game is ready, not when Babe is talking.

Thermals, battery, sickness

• Debris-field peaks will spike. That is the hero screenshot’s problem: overlapping translucency plus unique props.
• A 40 FPS cap plus lower shadows is the usual fix. If it is still loud, drop effects.
• Motion blur off. FOV slightly lower if EVA nauseates you.
• Headphones help you hear hisses and recharge posts. They also make oxygen warnings harder to ignore, which is the point. Survival.

What the Deck is bad at in this game

• Tiny encyclopedia text if you sit far from the screen. Increase subtitle and UI scale if the build offers it.
• Precision looting of coinsized junk without gyro or a trackpad click.
• Long sessions at recommended desktop settings. You will thermal-throttle and then blame Coffinbots. Combat.

Desktop versus Deck saves

Steam Cloud is listed. Demo saves from 2025 were not promised to carry into the full game. Deck versus desktop of the same Early Access build should be fine. If a major update breaks Cloud, it will show up on news.

Other handhelds

Ally, Legion Go, and similar Windows handhelds are not Verified badges. Treat them as 1660-class or better APUs and use the same settings order. No Mac or Linux client exists on the Steam table.

If the badge made you buy a Deck for this launch, keep the default profile, cap 40, bind the extra hand, and go find plastic in a suitcase. The tips page is the rest of the first hour. The Chicken does not care that you are handheld. The oxygen bar does.
